Baby chair crafted by HIDEKAZU MIYASHITA
削っても切っても中まで「木そのもの」、天然木を製材したままの無垢材を使って家具や小物などの木工作品を手がける宮下秀和さんが、igu伝のサブキャラクター「まっくろさん」をあしらったベビーチェアを制作してくださいました。
反ったり伸びたり縮んだりと作品になってからも「動く」無垢材にこだわって製作をされているのが宮下さんの作品の特徴。igu伝の「もしも」に、無垢材の肌合いを重ね合わせ、「無垢材が動いたら」という、もう1つの「もしも」も加えてくれました。
※もちろん、無垢材が動いても、椅子が壊れることはありません。
No matter how much you shave off or cut it, "wood is still wood" down to the core. Hidekazu Miyashita makes furniture and small objects from solid natural wood. He made a baby chair for the IGUDEN sub-character, Makkuro-san.
His work is characterized by a predilection for solid wood and a sense of "movement" even after the bending, elongating and shrinking he does to shape his works. Playing off of IGUDEN’s "what-if," he added another what-if, as in "if solid wood could move," by superimposing the texture of solid wood.
* Of course, the chair does not break if the wood moves.
Hidekazu Miyashita
Born in 1962. After working as a salaried employee, started up in carpentry and opened a studio in Hyogo Prefecture. Father of four children. Photo to be added soon.
